Anteater’s Family Stack

€250,00

The piece was inspired by an unusual and amusing occurrence at Shanghai Wild Animal Park, where a mother and her offspring were photographed riding on the father’s back. This unexpected interaction captured my attention because it appeared both playful and affectionate, while also showing the closeness and dependence within a family group.

This work portrays anteaters and explores the relationship between parent and offspring in the natural world. I was drawn to their unusual forms, particularly their elongated snouts, curved bodies, and distinctive markings.

By stacking three figures of different sizes, I wanted to suggest different generations or stages of life. The arrangement developed into a broader exploration of dependence, and connection. The physical act of balancing one figure upon another also became a visual metaphor for the ways family members carry, support, and rely on one another.
